Monterey Awning Cleaning
- How Often?
All awnings require regular cleaning and a visual inspection is a key element in determining how often and how deeply your
awnings should be cleaned.
Metal awnings, as long as they function smoothly, should be cleaned as often as a visual inspection indicates. A regular hosing,
before dirt and debris has a chance to accumulate is best.
Vinyl awnings require regular cleaning and sealing and canvas-like fabrics also need to be cleaned regularly, along with
waterproofing and stain protection reinforcement.
Fabric awnings exposed to constant, harsh sunlight require at least a yearly cleaning followed by a UV protection treatment.
Awning cleaning frequency can also be affected by wind. Areas that are windy a good part of the time can cause blown dust, pollen
and other debris to accumulate more quickly. In some cases, a mild cleaning should be done every month and a thorough cleaning every
3 months with treatment included.
Foggy conditions can cause awning material to remain damp, promoting the growth of mold and mildew and also allowing a rapid
accumulation of all kinds of particulates for these to thrive in. These awnings (subject to visual inspection) should be cleaned
every month with a thorough cleaning and treatment every 3 months.
